In December last year we started a campaign called One Child One Book with the believe that we can cause the change that we so desire to see in our world, and we wanted as many people as possible to be part of that. We believed and still believe that books are powerful tools to change the world with.
How?
Ideas. Ideas are powerful weapons that can prove to be stronger than weapons of war. Ideas can be so practical in solving even the most complex problems that we face as individuals or as a society. Great businesses and empires were formed by ideas, and in fact, everything that a man can become or have must first be perceived as an idea.
So it is actually very okay to say that ideas rule the world. Ideas that were acted upon if I may add. And now, where do we get these ideas?
In books!
Ideas for success, ideas for a better society, ideas for self-development, ideas for good governance and every idea you can imagine can be found in books. And we want to share such good ideas with the world, especially with the leaders of tomorrow – the younger generation, and that was what gave birth to the One Child, One Book Campaign.
What we did was to put out a call to the good people of the society like yourself to sponsor a book for one child with as little as N500 ($1.39). And we were thrilled by the response the campaign received. Some people gave way more than was asked. Some sponsored a book, others 20, 50, 80, and even more. We were wowed.
And so at the end of the first quarter of the year in March 2019, after experiencing some delays, we went out to the schools to deliver on our promise; the books (ideas) that we so eagerly wanted to share. We were able to reach over 100 students in 11 schools with a book each. And we have you to thank for that.
To us, the One Child, One Book Campaign was a success. And once again, thank you so much for your support and may God richly reward you. We believe that the seeds that we have collectively sown into the lives of those kids will one day yield to us all great leaders that would change the world, great businesses that would change a lot of lives, and most of all, a great society where we can all live in peace and prosperity.
